Is there a Teen ChalleNGe in Hawaii?

Teen Challenge of the Hawaiian Islands exists to provide youth, adults, and families with an effective and comprehensive Christian, faith-based solution for the drug and alcohol programs.

How long do you stay in youth ChalleNGe?

The program lasts for 17½ months. The first 5½ months are part of the quasi-military Residential Phase. The last 12 months are part of the Post-Residential Phase. Most participants will earn their GED or a high school diploma by the end of their Residential Phase.

What is youth ChalleNGe academy?

The Program The National Guard Youth ChalleNGe Program is a community-based program that leads, trains and mentors 16-18 year old youth so that they may become productive citizens in America’s future.

How long is the Ngycp program?

The NGYCP is a voluntary 5½-month residential program followed by a year-long mentorship. Its goal is to get teenagers on track toward graduating from high school and on to a promising future.

What was the National Guard Youth Challenge Program and what were the components of this program?

Our Program The National Guard Youth Challenge Program, a preventive rather than remedial at-risk youth program, targets voluntary participants, 16 to 18 years of age, who have dropped out of school or are not satisfactorily progressing, are unemployed or under employed, drug-free, and crime-free.

Can you join the National Guard while in high school?

This program lets you join the Guard while you’re still in high school. You’ll return to school for your senior year, during which you’ll train one weekend a month with your local unit. The summer following graduation, you’ll attend Advanced Individual Training and train for your Guard job (your MOS).

What role do mentors play in the National Guard Youth Challenge Program?

Community mentors are identified when youth enter the program and begin working with youth toward the end of the residential phase. Their intended role is to support the youth’s transition into an educational or career path and to help to reinforce any gains youth made during their time on the base.

What do you do at ycp?

During this phase, which is designed to help students continue in a positive direction, graduates are assisted by YCP case managers and community mentors to continue their education, enroll in college, begin job training, find employment, or enlist in the military.
