Did Vanitas return to Ventus?
Vanitas has discovered he is now able to bring forth Unversed from the negative emotions of others and not just his own. Vanitas ponders on how, despite having disappeared following his battle with Ventus at the Keyblade Graveyard years ago, he has returned due to having been “called back” by Sora.

Vanitas then declares that he will save the vampire race from the Curse Of The Blue Moon. It is then revealed that Noé will eventually kill Vanitas himself at the end of their journey together. Noé heads back to La Baleine to retrieve his possessions and Vanitas follows.

Both times, Sora’s heart reaches out to mend Ventus’s heart. At end of Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep, Ventus’ body lies comatose in the Chambers of Repose and Waking as his heart is sleeping with Sora, where it can mend and heal, to be returned to Ventus once it has done so.
Will Vanitas have a Season 2?
This means that even long-time fans must wait to find out why Noé kills Vanitas, or at least why he claims so at the end of the anime premier. Thankfully, studio Bones won’t leave us hanging. While no Season 2 has been announced, Season 1 of The Case Study of Vanitas won’t stop at 12 episodes.
