In preparation for implementation of the new assessments measuring the 2018 Science Standards of Learning, new science test blueprints have been developed for the grade 5 science, grade 8 science, and EOC Biology SOL tests.
Is there a science Sol?
VA SOL Tests at a Glance SOL tests are aligned to the Virginia Standards of Learning. These Virginia state standards define what Virginia students should learn in every grade. The annual SOL testing is administered as follows: SOL Reading: 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grades.
How many questions is the biology SOL?
There are 60 items on the Biology SOL, including 50 questions that count toward a student’s score and 10 that are field tested for later testing.

Standards of Learning (SOL) assessments are the main part of the Virginia Assessment Program for grades 3-12. SOL tests are used to fulfill: Federal requirements for annual testing in reading, mathematics, and science. State requirements for testing in writing and social studies.

Do sols count this year?
Those tests are only mandated at the state and not federal level. SOL tests already didn’t affect school funding, but tests issued this year will be part of the 2022-23 school accreditation process.
What score do you need to pass the biology SOL?
All SOL test results have a Scaled Score which ranges from 0 to 600. A Scaled Score of 400 is required to pass.
