How do Lexile levels correlate to grade level?

The higher the Lexile measure, the higher the student’s reading level. The reader’s Lexile Framework works in intervals of five with 5L being the lowest. The highest possible measure is 2000L. Anything below 5L is assessed as a BR or Beginning Reader.

What is the difference between Lexile and guided reading levels?

Guided Reading Levels are more complex than Lexile Scores. They measure length of book, layout, plot, repetition, illustrations, vocabulary, characters, setting, content and theme. A Lexile score measures a book’s difficulty level on a scale from low to high.

Lexile compared to Fountas and Pinnell After every 25 points you will see a change to the Lexile level. Fountas and Pinnell conversion chart levels only move after every 50L points once a child is over 100L points (or level D in Fountas and Pinnell, the table below should be taken as a rough guide).

Are guided reading levels the same as Fountas and Pinnell?

Developed by Irene Fountas and Gay Su Pinnell, the guided reading level system gives a more precise reading level for books. This detailed, alphabetic system has several levels within each grade level. For example, grade 2 is equivalent to guided reading levels J through M.
